Chai Walli awarded Micro Business of the Year at IABCA Gala Night

Chai Walli was awarded Micro Business of the Year at the India-Australia Business & Community Awards (IABCA) last Friday evening. It's so humbling to be recognised for such a prestigious award amongst a number of reputable businesses. The Chai Walli team would also like to congratulate all other finalists for their outstanding contribution to the community.

This award was judged by a panel of judges against 300 other applicants, Chai Walli was shortlisted as a finalist which was already a massive accomplishment. In this category, a Micro Business, defined as a business with less than 5 employees and turnover of up to $2 million, is recognised for the outstanding achievement and contribution. The pillars on which the business were judged by the judging panel was how Chai Walli overcomes challenges, their marketing and sales strategy, governance, transparency, accountability and corporate social responsibility.

Before the awards night, Uppma was also invited to speak on a panel about Soft Power and Diplomacy at the IABCA Leaders Forum. Amongst diplomats and politicians on the panel, discussions were focused on the Indian Australian relationship. There were diverse perspectives from each speaker, particularly when talking about the current situation in India, how the Australian community can support and also how can we create more connection between the Indian diaspora in Australia.

Thank you to IABCA for providing a platform that recognises the hard work of small businesses with a purpose to highlight the Indian community in Australia. IABCA thrives to strengthen the India-Australia relationship through their initiatives, working in conjunction with State Governments.

Shoutout to the Chai Walli team for their continual dedication to have received this award!
