Ajwain, or carom seed, is an authentic addition to any Indian pantry. With quite a strong aroma and taste, you don't need to add much to spice up your dish. Put it in your scrambled eggs, sprinkle it on your parantha or make a tea out of it.
Known in Ayurveda to have antibacterial and anti-inflammatory properties, Ajwain is also often a great digestive, which is why it is added to many fried foods - everything in balance we say! It's probably for that reason that Ajwain is an essential ingredient in samosa - yum!
You can also roast & eat Ajwain when you've got indigestion, in Ayurveda roasted Ajwain is said to assist with bloating.
