To celebrate our featured product of the month, Turmeric Latte, we are sharing with you a very special recipe that Uppma's family has used for generations as their regular skin routine to help moisturise and detox the skin using natural Ayurvedic ingredients.

This Ayurvedic Face Mask Kit has all the essential natural ingredients you need to mix up and create this secret mask recipe that has been in Uppma's family. To stay in line with our values of supporting small business, we have used local honey from our beekeepers across the road. Honey is known to aid with moisturising the skin. The use of Besan (chickpea flour) on the skin is a very ancient tradition which a lot of Asian and middle eastern brides and groom use on their skin mixed with turmeric to cleanse and purify the skin before their big day!

Here's a super cool photo of Uppma having her Maiyya ceremony before her wedding day. It's a very special ceremony which her family and friends get together to begin the wedding celebrations by singing songs and rubbing the turmeric paste into her skin. It can be quite emotional, but also connects the family together.

What you'll find in your Ayurvedic Face Mask Pack:

  1. Turmeric Powder
  2. Rosewater
  3. Besan (Chickpea Flour)
  4. Australian Honey

There are directions on how to make your face mask below. These directions will be for approximately 3 face masks. You can use the extra on other parts of your body, keep it in the fridge for the next week in a sealed container or share with your family or friends and make a night out of it over a cup of chai ;)

Put the following items into a small bowl:

  1. 3 tablespoons of Besan into a bowl
  2. 1 teaspoon of turmeric powder
  3. 1 teaspoon of rose water
  4. 1 tablespoon of honey

Mix everything together until it becomes a thick smooth thick paste. There will be some grittiness but it should look like the images above, if it doesn't then tweak the ingredients (i.e. if it's too water add more Besan, if it's too thick add more honey or rosewater).

Use a spoon to apply some to your face (make sure you've removed any make up from your face). Once it's applied to all your face, let it sit for about 15 to 20 minutes. The face mask smells so nice because of the rosewater and feels so soft because of the honey!

If you have any discomfort, remove from skin straight away. If you have any skin problems, please make sure you do a patch test before using this product on your skin.

After it has dried up, we recommend washing this off in your skin or taking a shower and removing it while you're in the shower.

After it's all off, wipe your face dry and moisturise your squeaky clean face!

Hope you enjoy this beautiful family recipe, you can use it again and again. Uppma loves using it every 2 to 4 weeks.

Please note, we are only making a small amount of these packs as a limited edition product so it will only be available for a short time.
