Hi Liz, lovely to connect with you and have you at Chai Walli!
Tell us about what you do at Chai Walli?
My job title is Production and Relationships and my day to day is usually replying to emails, organising orders and invoices, blending the lovely chai we have, cleaning and lots of admin work!
What do you like doing for fun?
I enjoy getting dinner and drinks with friends, op shopping, going to music gigs, going to the gym, camping and watching some reality tv with my partner.
What was your first impression about Chai Walli?
My first impression of Chai Walli was that it is an awesome WOC led company! A lot of my friends drink Chai Walli chai and rave about it and I just thought it would be a company that I would be happy to be a part of and would enjoy working for. And that is all definitely correct.
What's something that makes no sense to you these days?
Getting drinks before dinner. The correct order is dinner then drinks and you can't change my mind.
What's unique or different about your role and the environment at Chai Walli?
I feel like my role dabble's in lots of different areas which is new for me! The working environment of Chai Walli is such a supportive, open and caring space and a total pleasure to be a part of.
If you were a spice or a herb, which ingredient would you be and why?
I want to say I would be a rose petal or a star anise but I think I would actually be a peppercorn. Not really sure why but it just feels right.
What TV show are you currently watching?
I am watching a few! I started watching The Bear recently as well as the new Lord of the Rings show and Love Island.
What's your favourite song on the Chai Walli warehouse playlist?
That's a tough one! At the moment it would be 'La Femme Fetal' by Digable Planets because yes Women's rights.
What's your favourite blend at Chai Walli?
Another tough one but it would probably be between the Golden Chai and 11 Spice Chai. So tasty and comforting after a long day!
What's the coolest/weirdest thing you've experienced at Chai Walli?
The weirdest experience was chasing 2 pigeons out of the warehouse complex with a broom. I am glad to report that no pigeons were hurt in the process.
What's Uppma like?
Uppma is such a strong willed, kind, sassy, funny and smart woman. A total joy to work for. She speaks her mind and tells it to you like it is. She's one sassy strong chai queen!
We heard you're a tea person before you started work at Chai Walli. How much more have you learnt about tea after working at Chai Walli?
I thought I was a tea person before working at Chai Walli and I have realised that I am a fraud ahaha I have learnt so much!! Such as something as simple as rinsing the tea leaves before steeping. Life changing!
